Edward River Village

Curry Project Management was responsible for overseeing the Edward River Village project’s site works, excavation, sewerage and plumbing installation, as well as managing the preliminary and procurement stages of the project. This involved ensuring that all initial groundwork, including permits, insurances, and contractual obligations, was completed before construction began. Additionally, CPM coordinated the procurement of materials and services to ensure the timely delivery and installation of all infrastructure and utility systems. CPM managed all phases from site establishment to final construction, ensuring compliance with Edward River City Council’s guidelines, Australian standards, and coordination of multiple trades for seamless project delivery.

Key areas of responsibility included:

  • Handling site establishment, submission of Project Management Plans, acquiring necessary permits and insurances, and ensuring that all contractual obligations and fees were addressed. CPM also managed the procurement of materials and contractors, ensuring that all resources were available on schedule.
  • Managing site clearing, excavation for footings, installation of services, and site security, including erosion control and traffic management.
  • Overseeing the installation of sewerage, stormwater drainage, and water supply systems, ensuring adherence to relevant Australian standards.
  • Supervising the installation of concrete footings, slabs, and structural elements, ensuring compliance with design specifications.

Specific Responsibilities Under the Contract
The project management team was tasked with:

  • Submitting a comprehensive program of works, coordinating site establishment, and ensuring that all Project Management Plans, permits, and insurances were in place. This included addressing all authority fees and charges and verifying underground service locations.
  • Managing the procurement process, ensuring that materials such as concrete, plumbing supplies, and stormwater components were sourced in a timely manner to avoid delays. CPM coordinated with suppliers and contractors to maintain the project timeline.
  • Clearing the building areas, stripping topsoil for re-use, and excavating for footings and services. Erosion control measures were implemented as per Edward River City Council’s guidelines, and a site security fence was established to secure the work area.
  • Excavating for footings and piers based on the working drawings, including provisional footing depths and service excavations.
  • Excavating for and installing water supply, sewerage, and stormwater systems with appropriate coverage and drainage points.
  • Implementing a Traffic Management Plan and vehicle cleaning station to ensure adjacent roads remained clear of mud and debris.

Procurement Delivery & Site Management

CPM managed the procurement phase by selecting qualified contractors and sourcing materials through a structured tendering process to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness. The delivery phase included coordinating logistics to ensure materials were on-site as needed, avoiding disruptions to the construction timeline. CPM oversaw site management by directing contractor activities, monitoring daily progress, and maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols and project schedules. This comprehensive approach minimized downtime and maintained efficiency.

Submissions & Compliance

CPM ensured all submissions were in full compliance with local regulations and Australian standards. This involved the preparation and submission of comprehensive Project Management Plans, permits, and insurance documents to relevant authorities for review and approval. Regular compliance checks were conducted to ensure that all construction activities adhered to safety and environmental standards, with timely submissions for stakeholder transparency.

Contractor Coordination
The project management team ensured that the contractor:

  • Complied with Australian Standards: Ensured all works, including plumbing, drainage, and sewerage systems, adhered to the relevant Australian Standards (AS 3500, AS 1172, AS/NZS 1260).
  • Managed Site Clean-Up: Directed the contractor to remove all waste and excess materials from the site, leaving the area level and free of debris.
  • Testing and Certification: Ensured that all systems, including sewerage and water connections, were tested and certified by local authorities, with all required fees and permits being processed.

As-Built Construction Data
CPM ensured that accurate as-built records were maintained for all phases of the project. This included detailed documentation of site excavation, footing preparation, sewerage and plumbing installations, and drainage systems. All as-built records were compiled and submitted electronically to Edward River City Council, ensuring compliance with contract requirements and smooth handover.

By managing the preliminary stages, procurement, site works, excavation, and plumbing systems for the Edward River Village project, CPM delivered a fully compliant and operational development, meeting all safety, environmental, and construction standards.
